Lake Piburger See is the landmark and natural gem of Oetz. Initially the lake’s basin was a deep ravine running parallel to the Ötztal valley. Thanks to the scenic location the lake is a popular excursion destination. Walkers discover charming highlights along the trails surrounding Lake Piburger See: Wellerbrücke bridge, Achstürze falls near Ötztaler Ache river or lake Habicher See. Enjoy one of Tirol’s warmest swimming lakes (temperatures reach up to 24°C).
Swimming & Relaxing
Enjoy unique bathing pleasures in Ötztal’s one and only natural swimming lake. At the southern shore you find a swimming bath with lakeside restaurant, terrace, sunbathing lawn and a floating raft in the center of the lake. Rowing boat rental available! Swimmers are only allowed to use the public swimming area (barrier-free access to the lake).

Nature Preserve Area Achstürze – Piburger See
Lake Piburger See is one of Tirol’s oldest nature preserves. Already in 1929 it was declared an area of outstanding natural beauty. Today the Achstürze – Lake Piburger See nature preserve covers the unique cultural landscape in the north of Piburg, the pristine forest surrounding the lake, a part of Ötztaler Ache river and lake Habicher See.
