The large-scale current over the Alps will temporarily turn to southwest towards midweek. A south foehn wind will set in and weak southerly barrier effects will build up at the main Alpine divide. On Wednesday, the foehn wind in the mountains will strongly increase and the temperatures will be accompanied by further high cloud banks. The sun will weaken on Wednesday. On Thursday, the south foehn will become stormy, sunny and cloudy conditions will alternate. More compact barrier effects of clouds will build up at the main Alpine divide. Here, slight precipitation is expected on Thursday night. On Friday, the south foehn will slowly decrease as the day progresses, however, a substantial weather deterioration is unlikely to be expected. The temperatures will decrease for longer and some snowfall is expected at the weekend. The detailed forecast from Friday through Sunday is still uncertain, as surprises may occur.
