Hiking Tips for Hochoetz

Panoramarestaurant [1] (2020 m) - Bielefelder Hütte [4] (2150 m) - Acherbergalm [5] (1888 m) – return to Panoramarestaurant [1] (2020 m)

The 8-person mountain gondola whisks you effortlessly up to 2020 m above sea level, straight to the Hochoetz panorama restaurant with sun terrace and view of the adjacent WIDIVERSUM. From there you hike on leisurely trails to new Bielefelder Hütte at 2150 m (in good weather: jovial hut evening with live music every Tuesday) and enjoy the view of Inntal valley. Then descend to Acherbergalm (1888 m). From here you return to the panorama restaurant on the forest trail.

Panoramarestaurant 1 (2020 m) - Acherbergalm 5 (1888 m) - Habichen or Oetz

Important: for experienced hikers only! High Alpine mountain trail!

From the Hochoetz panorama restaurant you follow the forest road down to lovely Acherbergalm (1888 m). A rest is always recommended as you continue walking downhill on foot through the forest either to Oetz (820 m) or alternatively to Habichen.

Panorama Restaurant [1] (2020 m) - Rotels Wandl - Kühtailealm [2] (1988 m) - Balbachalm [3] (1957 m) – Mohrenköpfl - Bielefelder Hütte [4] (2150 m) return to the Panorama Restaurant [1] (2020 m)

"Rotes Wandl" (vantage point) can be reached from the Hochoetz panorama restaurant (2020 m) within a few minutes. From there the trail leads to Kühtailealm (1988 m). Walking past ponies, sheep and donkeys you will soon reach Balbachalm (1957 m). Follow the hiking trail up to Mohrenköpfl and further on to Bielefelder Hütte (2150 m). Now you walk back to the Hochoetz panorama restaurant.

Panorama Restaurant [1] (2020 m) - Bielefelder Hütte [4] (2150 m) - Rosskopf -Wetterkreuz - Alte Bielefelder Hütte (in ruins) - Acherbergalm [5] (1888 m) – return to Panorama Restaurant [1] (2020 m)

From the Hochoetz panorama restaurant (2020 m) you hike up to Bielefelder Hütte (2150 m). From there you first climb Rosskopf peak (2399 m) and then Wetterkreuz summit (2591 m). After enjoying the picture-book Stubai Alps you descend to the old (dilapidated) Bielefelder Hütte. Then you continue to Acherbergalm (1888 m). From here you return to the panoramic restaurant on the forest trail.

Panorama Restaurant [1] (2020 m) - Rotes Wandl - Kühtailealm [2] (1988 m) - Balbachalm [3] (1957 m) - Ochsengarten (1507 m) – with the Ochsengartenbahn lift back to the Panoramarestaurant (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) or Postbus to Oetz (as per timetable).

Via the Hochoetz panorama restaurant (2020 m) and "Rotes Wandl" vantage point you reach Kühtailealm (1988 m). Continue to Balbachalm (1957 m) before you walk down into the valley to Ochsengarten (1538 m). From there the Ochsengarten mountain gondola (please check seasonal operating times!) takes you back to the panorama restaurant on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Or you enjoy a public bus ride back to Oetz. Please always check current timetables as bus connection is limited outside the season.

Panoramarestaurant [1] (2.020m) – Rotes Wandl – On the traces of wild animals – WIDIVERSUM

The easy, family-friendly panorama loop hike starts at the Hochoetz panorama restaurant, leading gently up and down through the pine forest and Alpine rose fields to "Rotes Wandl" vista point. There are so many things to explore and admire along the route, especially the superb view that awaits you. The way back leads through the trail of wild animals to WIDIVERSUM and the restaurant.

10 domestic wild animals have been hiding along Tour 7. Find the wild animals and learn a lot about them.

The hike first leads to Balbachalm and further on to Wetterkreuzbahn top station where you will find the fabulous Zugspitzblick vantage point. From the platform you let your eyes wander over the Wetterstein mountain massif including Zugspitze peak, further on to the Lechtal Alps and towards Inntal valley and Kühtai. In addition to a detailed panoramic map, a telescope is available to enjoy a long close look at the superb panorama.
